OAuth Grant – x-ate

OAuth Grant

The OAuth framework defines a framework for establishing new grant types alongside several grant types for various use cases. The OAuth procedure is structured according to the type of grant. Accordingly, how the client application is communicating with the OAuth service at each stage, as well as how the access token is sent, is influenced by the grant type.

OAuth is a set of rules that allow you to communicate data from one application with another without revealing your user name and password from the first application.

An OAuth interaction with an application involves the following steps:

This authorization is usually carried out using an OAuth “prompt,” in which the third-party application displays an authentication page (controlled by the provider you are authenticating against) and prompts you to verify your identity. User approval should be provided through this screen or prompt so that the user understands exactly what access the third party is requesting. Once consent is granted, no security credentials, such as the password, are exchanged. Instead, the asking party receives a secure authorization token that they must share. These token grants access to data that has been allowed via the OAuth prompt via an API, and it is frequently used to create internal accounts or login sessions.
